Syncing issue status across Github and Zenhub

Hey Zenhub folks,

I have some people in my org not directly using the Zenhub workspace but only the Github project view. This means that the different pipelines (status columns) in Zenhub are not in sync with Github and I now have two boards to maintain and manually sync. Is there any way to automatically transition issues between statuses. Example: When I move an issue from New to In progress in Zenhub, I would like to see the same in the Github board.

Hey there,

While we have support for importing GitHub Projects, it’s a one time import, not a continual sync.

Have you tried inviting your extended team to Zenhub?

I suppose inviting them to Zenhub remains the only solution here. Is there a sync feature planned for the future?

I was about to create a new post, but I’m running into a similar issue, so I’ll post in this thread.

Here’s the context:

I’m working in a setup where my team is using a GitHub Project (in the beta format) to manage our work from across a few different repos across our GitHub organization.

Our company is adopting Zenhub. So, we also now have a Zenhub workspace that doesn’t quite handle all the functionality we have in our GitHub project. Because of that, we want to keep both. We all have seats in both GitHub and Zenhub. Is there a way to keep the boards in sync?

For example, if an issue’s GitHub status moves out of Triage and into a Backlog on our GitHub Project board, is there a way that the same issue can move from a Triage swimlane to a Backlog swimlane in our Zenhub workspace?

I realize that Zenhub offers workflow automation between workspaces, but I’m interested in the GitHub + Zenhub connection. It sounds like this isn’t possible today based on the answer above, but I’d vote for this as a feature!

Thanks for letting me know if there have been any new developments since July '22.

Hi - while we’ve got LOTS of cool things coming this quarter, we don’t have any near-term plans for syncing Zenhub and GitHub Projects. Import only remains the case.
